What is Transience of Life?

The Transience of Life underscores the ever-fleeting and temporal nature of existence, marked by the gruesomeness of inevitable change that leads only to decay and death. This concept often creates a sense of urgency for a person to appreciate the present moment and delve into a deeper understanding of the beauty and instability of life.

This is a traditional answer, yet it really doesn’t offer much substance, nothing to chew on, mostly just fluff.

For me personally, the transience of life reveals an unsettling truth: All that we attempt to build, and construct around us, in order to hide from life’s chaos and unpredictability, be it brick walls or social constructs – All, eventually crumbles. Are these barriers we build from chaos mere illusions that deepen our suffering when they inevitably fade away?

All dissolves like mist under the sun when one begins to believe that, finally, I found my place in life. The reality is that all is but a mirage in this quest be it for life’s happiness, purpose or meaning.

A Haunting Paradox of Life’s Transience

… Everything we hold dear, from relationships to beliefs, is a fleeting illusion, that matters not how strongly you clinch on it will eventually go to poof. Again and again, you are left alone, to feel that you are behind in life.

We bind ourselves to all kinds of things: work, hobbies, organizations or ideologies – crafting sanctuaries, seeking the comfort of walls we could call home … Yet, time after time we understand that all is but a phantasm our minds generate to escape the truth.

All these efforts are but artificial constructs—fabrications that we spin to lull our restless souls with a sense of purpose and meaning.

Ideologies crumble, places become distant memories, friends may turn to strangers or even worse, foes …All is ephemeral, destined to fade into the void.

Life is riddled with impermanence, all in it as soon as it is created destined to disappear, leaving us stranded, bewildered, clutching at fragments of what once was.

And in this vanishing act, we suffer. Time and again, we find ourselves forsaken, betrayed and abandoned to navigate the solitude of our paths. In this solitude, we suffer tremendously more.

Can We Live Without Illusions To Protect Us From Life’s Transience?

Do not have attachments; Avoid illusions of life –  What nonsense; they are survival mechanisms; without them, sanity will abandon us very soon; it will slip through our grasp quickly as they tether our sanity amidst the chaos of life.

An illusion of understanding and purpose is much preferable to insanity. Illusions, though ephemeral, offer shelter—an anchor against the storm of chaos and madness.

Nevertheless, they are illusions, and no matter how much we reinforce them and how deeply we invest in them, they will inevitably disappear, and inevitably, insanity will catch with us, leaving us exposed to the creeping shadow of existential madness. Tell me, how often does this spectre of despair manifest in the quiet agony of those in life’s twilight?

What, then, shall we do? Well, stop living in illusions of the past and now reality. Abandon them as quickly as possible.

The only thing that is certain is that the future will come; it approaches relentlessly, and it holds true certainty. Live for the future, even if it is but tomorrow.

The masses cling to the now and the bygone of the past, gazing wistfully backward, aimlessly adrift, blind to where they are headed. Most people have no idea where they are going or what future they are aiming for.

They are not entirely wrong, but their perspective holds merit. Predicting the future of an individual is not only impossible and futile but also dangerous, as all must remain in a flux of unknown, for the unknown must remain fluid, unbound by the certainty of any individual.

Did I answer the question? Most perhaps did not finish the first paragraph, all is confusing and strange … But for those who managed to read through, please stick and read other articles … perhaps together we find more of what life is about.

Best regards,

Val
